Thanks to support for UHS-II SD memory cards, image data is written quickly, enabling continuous shooting sequences of up to 58 JPEGs, 25 RAWs or 39 CRAWs at full resolution.
The EOS 90D’s flicker detection controls the frame rate during continuous shooting so that it adapts perfectly to the light sources often used in sports halls and thus suppresses the consequences of flickering.

Thanks to the EOS 90D’s advanced AF system, even moving subjects are tracked precisely and kept in sharp focus. Regardless of whether you take your photos looking through the viewfinder or at the rotating and tilting display – focusing is always quick and precise.

Fast, precise focusing

45 AF points (all cross-type sensors) are displayed across the entire area of ​​the EOS 90D’s optical viewfinder – for greater sensitivity and precision when shooting in portrait and landscape format. You can take photos with lens-converter combinations up to an aperture of 1:8 in lighting conditions down to -3 EV.
The AF points can be used individually or in groups and can be moved quickly and easily using the intuitive AF multicontroller.
The iTR AF system uses color and facial information to detect and focus on moving subjects within the frame. You can also adjust the sensitivity and tracking speed of the AF to suit the subject you are photographing.

Dual Pixel CMOS AF

When taking photos in Live View mode or recording videos, the proven Canon Dual Pixel CMOS AF system ensures first-class sharpness. It covers most of the sensor area and offers low-light properties down to -5 EV. With up to 100% x 88% coverage of the vertical and horizontal sensor area and 5,481 AF positions, you can easily let your creativity run wild when composing your images. Thanks to face and eye detection, moving people are tracked and reliably kept in focus.

Focus bracketing

When it is important to have maximum depth of field throughout the image – such as in macro photography – focus bracketing can ensure optimal sharpness. With one press of the shutter button, the EOS 90D continuously captures images, automatically shifting the focusing distance from the starting position to the background from frame to frame. The Canon Digital Photo Professional software is then used to generate a combined image from these individual images, with the depth of field extending across the entire image.

First-class and creative video recordings

You can record impressive 4K video at 25 or 30 fps using the full width of the sensor – giving you that true cinematic look.
When shooting in Full HD mode, numerous frame rates are available: from 30 or 25 fps to a particularly smooth 50 or 60 fps – ideal for moving subjects. A 100 or 120 fps option is also available, ideal for slow-motion effects.*

The in-camera 4K time-lapse feature with 3 different presets allows motion to be presented in a whole new dimension. With 4K frame extraction, 8 megapixel JPEG frames can be extracted from the video.

With the EOS 90D’s rotating and tilting touchscreen LCD, you can easily take photos from different perspectives. You can focus and trigger with the touch of a finger – it’s intuitive, easy and efficient.

The battery life of the EOS 90D enables up to 1,300 images per charge, ideal for being outside for long periods of time.
You can also remotely control the EOS 90D with Bluetooth and WiFi via the Canon Camera Connect app and transfer the captured images directly without compression.
