With Dual-Pixel CMOS AF, Full HD video at 60 frames per second and a housing with integrated 5-axis image stabilizer, Canon is revolutionizing its series of system cameras from the EOS M series. It combines great performance and a compact, handy format in one camera. In just 427 g there is technology and image quality that doesn’t have to hide behind any “big” camera and offers competition to the tried and tested Canon SLR cameras.
Dual Pixel CMOS AF and touch autofocus
The proven autofocus technology already used in the Canon EOS 5d IV is also impressive in the Canon EOS M5. The new autofocus system impresses with its speed and accuracy, with which subjects can be focused on and tracked via LiveView – even when the camera or moving subjects are moving. This feature opens up a variety of creative possibilities and flexibility for filmmakers. But new possibilities also open up for photographers: focusing on the desired subject has never been as easy as with the new EOS M5. Thanks to the 3.2-inch touch display, the camera focuses with just one touch. For even more flexibility, the display can be folded up and down – for different shooting perspectives.
Integrated OLED viewfinder with spirit level
The Canon EOS M5 has a large, responsive electronic viewfinder – perfect for anyone who is used to handling SLR cameras. With approximately 2,360,000 pixels, the OLED viewfinder covers 100% of the image and can be customized in the information display. The foldable touchscreen can even be operated when taking photos through the viewfinder. This means you can also use the viewfinder to shift the focus and use focus tracking while taking photos.
Creativity for filmmakers
With the Dual Pixel CMOS AF, Canon makes shooting videos easier with the Canon EOS M5 – fast, precise focus tracking and focusing. With 60 frames per second and full HD video resolution, videos of up to half an hour can be recorded. Thanks to interchangeable lenses, there are no limits to the creative possibilities. In Manual Movie mode, the aperture, exposure time and ISO sensitivity can be set manually and adapted to the subjects.
Integrated 5-axis image stabilizer
The Canon EOS M5 is the first system camera from Canon to have an integrated image stabilizer. The 5-Axis Digital IS stabilizes the sensor over 5 axes, making the stabilizer in the lens unnecessary. Lenses without image stabilizer with EF-M bayonet or lenses from the older Canon generation can be used and image stabilized with an adapter.
WiFi and Bluetooth
Connect your smartphone to the Canon EOS M5 and control the camera via the Canon EOS app or conveniently transfer and share the images in no time. Thanks to the WiFi and Bluetooth functions, images can be transferred within a few seconds. Once connected, the connection can be made quickly and easily by pausing the smartphone on the NFC interface.
Canon EF-M 18-150mm 1:3.5-6.3 IS STM
The Canon EF-M 18-150mm 1:3.5-6.3 IS STM is the optimal all-purpose lens for the EOS M series – with a long focal length, built-in image stabilizer and STM autofocus.
From wide-angle to telephoto lenses, the Canon EF-M 18-150mm covers a wide range of focal lengths and is therefore equipped for a variety of different purposes. With 8.3x optical zoom, image stabilizer and STM focus technology, the Canon EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM is the perfect complement to your EOS M.
Versatility and flexibility
With an initial focal length of 18mm, which corresponds to around 29mm wide angle in 35mm format, the Canon EF-M 18-150mm is suitable for landscape and nature photos. Portraits and everyday life are best captured with a medium focal length. The telephoto performance of the Canon EF-M 18-150mm is optimally supported by the IS image stabilizer and ensures razor-sharp images even at 150mm (equivalent to the 35mm format: 240mm).
EOS EF and Ef-S lenses
With the Canon Mount Adapter for EF-EOS M you can use lenses from the entire Canon range. Adapt lenses with Canon EOS EF or Canon EF-S bayonet and use the large selection of different types of focal lengths or simply continue to use your existing lenses on the new camera.
