The Fujifilm X-Pro3 is equipped with a back-illuminated 26.1 megapixel X-Trans™2 CMOS 4 sensor and an X-Processor 4.
This combination, in conjunction with a new firmware, ensures automatic focusing via phase detection up to a brightness value of -6 EV, which corresponds almost to complete darkness.
The new “hybrid viewfinder” has a bright, high-resolution OLED display with 3.69 million pixels as well as improved color reproduction to make working with the electronic viewfinder even more pleasant. Also new is the “CLASSIC Neg” film simulation, whose colors are reminiscent of analog color negative films.
The X-Pro series is aimed at professional users and ambitious photo enthusiasts who appreciate the low weight of the cameras, the classic rangefinder concept and the intuitive operation via adjustment wheels – especially in reportage and documentary photography.
Particularly durable titanium housing
The outer camera housing is made of high-strength titanium, which guarantees additional stability and durability. In the “Black” model variant, the titanium surface has a high-quality finish that gives the camera a timeless, elegant look. The inner housing frame is made of a sturdy magnesium alloy.
The housing is sealed in 70 places against dust and splash water. The camera is therefore fully operational even in cold temperatures down to minus 10°C. This means users can take photos even in adverse weather conditions without having to worry about their equipment.
Advanced “hybrid viewfinder”
The X-Pro series offers a unique rangefinder concept. As an alternative to the optical viewfinder (OVF), which allows an unchanged view of the subject without any delay, the electronic viewfinder (EVF) can be used, which enables a preview of the later image result during the recording.
The “hybrid viewfinder” of the X-Pro3 has a high-resolution OLED display with 3.69 million pixels. With a contrast ratio of 1:5,000 and a brightness of up to 1,500 cd/m², even the finest details in highlights and shadows can be viewed. The electronic viewfinder also covers 97 percent of the sRGB color space and thus achieves extremely precise color reproduction. In high performance mode (“Boost” mode), the “Smoothing/Frame Rate” option is now available. If it is activated, a black image is inserted after each individual image, resulting in a particularly fluid image impression that corresponds to a frequency of approximately 200 Hz. This is particularly advantageous when recording fast-moving objects and when tracking irregular movements.
The X-Pro3 also offers the function of an electronic rangefinder (Electronic Rangefinder or ERF). This expands the performance of the optical viewfinder. A small EVF window is displayed in the viewfinder, which can be used, for example, to enlarge the focused image area or to check the image.
Powerful fourth generation sensor-processor combination
Thanks to a further developed AF algorithm, the X-Pro3 has low-light autofocus up to a brightness value of -6 EV; The camera still focuses reliably on the subject even in almost complete darkness.
The new HDR function is ideal for capturing high-contrast landscape subjects. It combines multiple exposures taken in quick succession to create an image with extended dynamic range and natural tonal and color reproduction.
Also new is the “AF Range Limiter” function, which previously could only be used with selected XF lenses. With the X-Pro3, it is now possible with any XF lens to recall two previously saved focus settings or to set the desired focus area using the focus ring.
With the new multiple exposure modes “Additive”, “Average”, “Light” and “Dark”, up to 9 individual images can be combined with each other. The individual images can be additionally embellished with different film simulations in order to achieve a particularly complex image result.
Classic operating concept
The LCD of the The display is easy to read even when viewed from the side and shows a high-contrast image with natural colors.
When the monitor is folded, a 3.25 cm (1.28 inch) information display behind scratch-resistant glass shows the last selected recording settings – thanks to the color memory function, even when the camera is switched off.
In “Classic” mode, information about the film simulation effect, white balance and other exposure parameters known from analog photography are displayed; In “Standard” mode, the shutter speed, ISO sensitivity, the number of shots remaining and other information can be read as numbers or icons.
